When establishing a small business, regardless of the industry or niche, it's essential to lay a strong foundation. Knowing your who, what, and why can help to form the core building blocks for your small business. In this post we’ll pose three questions: who you are as a business, what products, services or experiences you offer, and why you offer them.

Taking some time to brainstorm and create some clarity around your who, what, and why can help to guide you in your branding, marketing, social media, and client communications.

Who Are You?

Who you are as a business owner sets the stage for your business’s identity. Take some time to define your background, expertise, and the principles that guide your business. This includes your qualifications, the unique perspective you bring to your field, and the values that underpin your brand.

What Do You Offer?

To guide and promote your business, you have to be able to clearly articulate what your business provides. Consider the products or services you offer and how they meet the needs of your target audience. Defining your offerings with clarity helps you stand out in the competitive market and ensures that your message resonates with potential customers.

Why Do You Do It?

Finally, the why behind your business is the driving force that fuels your passion and purpose. Reflect on your motivation for starting your venture. What is it that compels you to offer your products or services? What positive impact do you hope to make on your customers or community? Your "why" not only gives meaning to your business but also acts as a guiding light, keeping you focused and committed.

These three foundational elements—Who, What, and Why—serve as a compass for your small business. They provide clarity, direction, and resilience, preventing distractions and ensuring that you stay true to your unique path. Aligning your business with these core principles can help you build a strong, purpose-driven enterprise that stands out in the world of entrepreneurship.
